Text:  Philippians 4:4-9; Matthew 6:34 

Can you believe that we are already in NOVEMBER?  Before you know it Thanksgiving will be here and then CHRISTMAS!  I’m sure we’ve all heard at least once in our lives that the most stressful season of all is between these two great holidays.  You’ll start to hear songs about “the most wonderful time of the year” but for so many, it becomes “the season to be uptight”!  

So how do we make certain that something that has the potential to be so wonderful doesn’t turn out to be dreadful? 

I believe a hint could be found in Philippians 4:6-8 where we discover 4 strategies to survive stressful seasons in our lives.   

It reads, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,  will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

1)  Worry About Nothing 

  • Let go of worry.  Worry messes up your now.  Stay in the moment. Enjoy the now.   
  • Hold on to your peace – it guards your heart and your mind. 

2)  Pray About Everything    

  • If you can find time to worry, you can find time to pray. 

3)  Thank God In All Things 

  • To have an attitude of gratitude is one of the greatest emotions you can possess. It makes you resistant to stress, to sickness, and disease. It’s a repellant to stress. It will keep you healthy. 

4)  Think About the Right Things  

  • Think about things that give you peace.  Peace guards your heart and your mind  
  • Where the focus goes, the power flows. 

We are praying for this to be the best, enjoyable, and less stressful holiday season you’ve ever had.  No matter what you are going through if you think hard enough there’s always something to be grateful about.  Be blessed!
