“Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other” (Proverbs 27:17 CEV)

God created us for relationship with Himself and with one another. We need people and people need us. One of the benefits of constant interaction with others is we become friends. With friendships ranging from casual to intimate, these interactions challenge and transform us.

With the power of relationships to influence and impact our lives, it is imperative that we evaluate all our relationships. The wrong friends and associations can drag us down. Particularly, there will be people from our past who will want to draw us back into old habits and behaviors. Each day we must decide to embrace and walk in the present rather than the past. It may at times feel foreign, even lonely.

With summer nearing its end, set aside some time to evaluate where you are relationally. Who are the friends in your life and how are they impacting your life? If you find that you need realignment in your relationships, consider joining a Connect Group. In these intimate, small group settings, we come together to encourage, learn, grow, and do life together. Connect Groups will begin in September. Visit the webpage for more information.
