. . . if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36)

Our country just celebrated an epic event in the history of America – Independence Day.  Commemorating liberty, traditions, and heritage – this national holiday is celebrated yearly on July 4th.

For believers in Jesus Christ, we all have a moment in our lives when we placed our faith in Christ.  This is our day of liberation; we were set free.   We were released from the entrapment and the bondages to sin so that we could live free.  It’s not enough to be free, we must live free.  The first step to freedom and liberty is knowing that you’re free.  The next step is to protect your freedom. We tend to forget, so Paul reminds us in Galatians that because Jesus has purchased our freedom, we “must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past” (5:1 TPT).

What from your past is drawing you back into what Christ has set you free from?  Remember, with faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, we can truly be free – once and for all.
